  • Training

The Great Southern Storm operates inline with the talent development principles of the AFL, WAFL and the Claremont Football Club.

We aim to improve the development of Great Southern footballers through providing more regular training in a high performance environment.

Our training programs take into account a player’s personnel details including their location, study and work commitments and their family situations and we endevour to tailor their training workloads to best suit their unique situations.

The program funds training hubs in the Great Southern and Kalgoorlie and supports players should they transition to Perth to pursue their football.

  • Education

The Great Southern Storm aims to provide education to improve the standards of the Great Southern’s football community including:-

    - Football Skills & Physical Preparation

    - Respect

    - Goal Setting

    - Resilience, Mental Health

    - Leadership

    - Bullying

    - Drugs and Alcohol

    - Finding Employment / Life Skills

  • Opportunity

The Great Southern Storm provides significant opportunity for local players to gain exposure and improve their football through high performance training, coaching, carnivals and other representative opportunities.

Should a player demonstrate exceptional talent and behaviours across the above programs, they will be invited to Perth to participate in Claremont FC or State Academy duties which requires additional pastoral care to bring to life.

The Great Southern Storm works with the player’s family to support them so that they can perform at their best and to give them the best chance of success.

Should the player continue to remain in the Great Southern, we take pride in ensuring that players continue to be involved with their local football club and have been provided significant investment in their personnel development through their time in the program.
